
Findings published in the British Journal of Nutrition say that drinking green tea every day for a month may protect against damage at a genetic levels, with benefits linked to the beverage’s antioxidant content.
This benefits are linked with polyphenols conained in green tea. The four primary polyphenols found in fresh tealeaves are epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), epigallocatechin, epicatechin gallate, and epicatechin.
By the way black tea (fermented green tea) loses most of its polyphenols during fermentation.
Note: There are some green tea side effects linked with polyphenols and caffeine
